Women Raped in Goma as Cease Fire Holds

The cease-fire the rebels called on Wednesday night, right as they were about to march into the strategic city of Goma, seems to be holding.

The situation is calm now in Goma and life restarted normally today.

But some violence was reported after the trouble made by Congolese soldiers on Wednesday night.

According to Heal Africa Hospital, since the 29th until yesterday, they received 17 cases of women and girls who were raped and 16 cases of women who were shot. But they assume that they are a lot of case of rape but women don't report because of the stigma that face victims of rape in Goma.

I hope this will not happen again because the population of North Kivu is traumatized.

Let us work together to fight against the violence, especially the violence against women.
