Red Cross Stops Giving Aid to IDPs in Kenyan Slum

Nine months after December's post-election violence, there are still many living in IDP camps outside Mathare, Kenya. Most of the people in the camp are members of the Kikuyu tribe and their homes were destroyed or confiscated by members of the Luo tribe. About 3 months ago the Red Cross stopped giving out food to the people living in the camps. To re-build their homes in Mathare would cost around $15,000ksh (about $225.00 US); most people living in the camps earn 50-150ksh ($.75-$1.25US) per day and now most of that money has to be spent on food.
